Flute Cocktail Workshop 2005

A day of ensemble playing open to flute players grade 5 standard and above.

Just Flutes - one of the UK's leading suppliers of flutes, accessories, and music. There was time during the day for browsing, trying and buying. Jonathan Myall was around for advice on all instruments and music.

Jessica Rance - One of the regions most experienced woodwind repairers was on hand for minor repairas and general advice on instrument care.

Everybody joined Flute Cocktail in the ensemble playing, for which music was provided. Including parts (and instruments) for piccolo, bass and alto flutes.

Masterclasses; where the many learn from the few were available for selected players. Two were a set piece - Mozart's Andante in C and two were a free choice. A pianist was available on the day for accompaniment where necessary.

LUNCH. A chance to talk to Jonathan Myall from Just Flutes and Jessica Rance. Try out new instruments/ head joints and ask lots of difficult questions about flutes music and accessories

13:45 - 14:45 MASTERCLASS - Free choice, 2 players, a pianist is available
14:45 BREAK
15:00 - 16:00 FLUTE CHOIR, "Cossack Ride"
16:00 BREAK - shopping (Ian and David rehearsal)
16:30 - 17:15 RECITAL - Ian and Michael Duet Ian solo. Whole group performance/

 

 

 

Ian Clarke is a player/composer who in rrecent years has established a reputation as one of the UK's most innovative flautists.
Ian is regularly invited to perform, lead workshops and give master classes for  numerous flute events around the country including many of the UK's leading flute courses and music colleges.

Ian’s compositions range from the humorous to the ethereal and from the sight readable to the definitely un-sight readable, often employing an array of extended techniques that he manages to combine in a uniquely accessible manner
