Flute Cocktail uses a range of flutes to produce a range and blend of tone colours that is much more varied than the concert flute alone can offer. Here are some of the instruments we have, along with their keepers…
The Concert Flute, played here by Becky, is the mainstay of orchestras, solo flautists and Flute Cocktail. This instrument produces a fantastic range of dynamic and tonal colours to invoke any mood the composer, or player, desires.
... plays an octave higher than the concert flute. Often used to add brightness and sparkle to the sound, but can also be used to bring a an expressive or haunting sound to the ensemble. Carolyn is our regular piccolo player.
... in G, is pitched a fourth lower than the concert flute which brings a wonderful mellow sound to the sound of the ensemble. Helen and Sandie here are on alto flute duty.
