Sarah Hunt

Former MD and Founder Member

As a founder member, leader and secretary of Flute Cocktail, Sarah may be considered as the foundation of the ensemble, but her artistic input is of greatest value. Sarah has contributed to our repertoire by arranging music for the group; In 2008 she took over as full time musical director of Flute Cocktail.

Sarah is the leader of Tavistock's wind band Blowzone, in which she now plays Drum Kit, having previously been the Principal Clarinettist and before that, Principal Flautist. She also covers for Peter Jones, the conductor, when he is away

Sarah is also an accomplished pianist and plays the church organ for services, weddings and funerals at both Whitchurch and Lydford.  In Summer 2015, Sarah passed with distinction her Grade 8 on the soprano saxophone, which she plays on a regular basis with local group Saxophonics.

In October 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sarah made the difficult decision to stand down from the role of MD; she hopes to do more performing in Musical Theatre, enjoy walking with friends and spending more time in her garden, after 12 years at the helm of Flute Cocktail, which she has very much enjoyed - "it's been such a privilege to lead the group for so long and to have been a part of it from the very start".  Hopefully, we will see Sarah back playing with Flute Cocktail for concerts in the future!
